Vacation: the eight letter word that I love the most. Now prefix it with cheap vacation, and you have me won over at the very first mention. However, what I was not expecting was to be so adventurous and heading out there (to LA) this coming weekend on a total whim. But then again, sometimes it can be really fun to veer away from your daily path and just be boisterous and make a decision, and at the last minute, to head out on that much needed weekend vacation.
I’m Long Overdue for a Vacation
It has been quite some time since I last enjoyed a really solid vacation. So one can easily say with my rather hectic and very demanding work schedule, that I have been in dire need of a break and an escape. Somewhere cool like LA is always a plus and a very attractive destination for me to visit. Not only do I have some family that lives out in Pasadena, but I also love the state of California, and I try to get out there at least a few times per year. The last time I recall being on a vacation to LA was around the end of May—when I chilled with my younger brother in Seal Beach for a few days of awesomeness. This time around, Burbank and Hollywood are on my itinerary. But I will make sure to spend some time in Pasadena with my brother as well.
Booking a Cheap Vacation to LA Was Easy as Pie
Now that I have my plans all set, and my cheap vacation booked, allow for me to share with you how streamlined and convenient that the process was for me. I was hanging out with my older brother and grabbing a few cold beers at a pub the other day, and he told me that he was moving to Portland in a few weeks; a total surprise for me. Then he whips out his cell phone and informs me that he wants to treat me to a vacation in LA—where we can romp around and have a blast before he moves a few states away from me.
He has one of those newer, web-enabled cell phones that allow you to do nearly anything that you can think of. He hits up Southwest Airlines and in moments has booked us round trip airfare to LA and back. WOW! Then he tells me we need a hotel room. Off to Kayak he heads on his phone, and he compares rates, eventually deciding upon the Ramada Inn at the Airport in Burbank, where we will be landing. Now, I am just trying to make it through the rest of the days in this week until my flight departs. Then I will be Hollywood-bound with my brother – and the weekend will be ours for the making!
