Cheap Vacations to San Diego

Southern California as a place to live or vacation make a lot of people cringe because of the Southland’s notorious uber-high cost of living. While it may be true in some respects that Southern California is exceptionally expensive, cheap vacations to San Diego are certainly possible. With the right accommodations and the right planning, a trip to the Golden State can be worked out for just about any budget.  Known as one of the most relaxing destinations in the area, saving money on a cheap vacation to San Diego will make it even more stress-free!

A truly comprehensive vacation package to San Diego will include some absolutely essential stops, including the San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, a trip to the Gaslamp Quarter, a guided tour or trip to San Diego’s Old Town, and perhaps even a jaunt across the border to do some serious bargain shopping in Tijuana.

While it may cost you a little extra, a trip to San Diego is light years better when you’re staying in a hotel on or very close to the beach. It’s the sound of the waves, the closeness to the shore, and on San Diego’s shoreline there are too many great seafood restaurants to count.

As with many vacation packages, the way to make it work is not to wait until the last minute. You can secure some great digs in San Diego for some fantastic prices during off-season. The best part about off-season in San Diego is that someone forgot to notify the weather – pretty much no matter when you go, a cheap vacation to San Diego will be privy to good weather. It’s cool at night, and perfect during the day. So going off-season just means you’ll be enjoying the same San Diego, spending less money, and not having to deal with the crowds – you can’t do much better than that!

Places that would normally cost between $150 and $300 per night right on the beach have a tendency to lower their nightly rates – and some will even go into the mid to high double-digits. There are some hotels and even very high-end motels that work with purveyors of cheap vacations to San Diego to offer package deals to include tickets to some of the hot attractions as well as some guided tours and in some cases even coupons or vouchers to some of the best dining around town.

When looking for some of the better deals on or off-season, don’t just stick to the keyword “San Diego.”  Make sure you extend your search to all sorts of surrounding areas. The prices may be better and you could get a lot more for your money. Some other locales in the vicinity to consider include Carlsbad, Del Mar, Coronado Island, La Jolla, Mission Bay, Temecula, Shelter Island, San Diego North, Pacific Beach, Mission Valley, just to name a few.

Cheap vacations to San Diego are absolutely possible for couples and families alike. A great place to start is to pick a reasonably priced hotel where you want to be and contact them for details on what offerings they may have through agencies or other entities they work with.
