A favorite vacation destination among people from all over the world has always been the city of London. Even people within Europe and from other places around England make London a favorite haunt and for good reason! This city has everything a traveler wants in a city break including the history, the architecture, the shopping and the nightlife! People began settling in the United Kingdom’s largest city over two thousand years ago and since that time, much has happened. These events are still characterized by much of the centuries old buildings that still stand around the city and the museums and heritage sites that depict the events good and bad that transpired over time to make London one of the most famous and beloved cities in the world.
Although popular among many travelers, one group that tends to shy away from London is budget travelers because of the assumption that it is too expensive. While it is true that London is a lavish and expensive place both to live and visit, budget travelers need not scratch it off their lists just yet because there are ways to see and enjoy London
if you are on a budget and enjoy a cheap vacation in an otherwise expensive city.
Flights to London are not cheap, plain and simple. At least, they are not cheap when you do not take the time to look for the cheap fares that do exist! The first thing you should do when looking for flight is to do research everywhere and anywhere including on the web, at local travel agencies and in your local newspaper travel section before you book. Start looking as soon as you decide that you will be going to London and keep looking until you find something in your price range. If at all possible, book a flight to another smaller airport away form the city and take a bus or train to your destination. Landing at Heathrow will most likely cost more than if you land at another, lesser known airport.
Once you have your flight booked, you need to find accommodations. Some hotels that offer very affordable rooms include the Whiteleaf hotel, South Park Hotel, King Solomon Hotel, and the Excelsior Hotel and prices range from thirty to sixty dollars per night. If you are willing to sacrifice a bit of luxury and privacy, there are dozens of hostels that offer even cheaper accommodation!
During your stay in London, you will also need to eat and that can get costly if you do not plan ahead and have a knowledge of where the cheapest places to eat are. Before you leave, print off discount coupons for restaurants in the city and do some research to find out where the restaurants you want to eat at are located. While you are there, it is probably best to speak with locals as they are the best to ask because they are the most familiar with the city and to save even more money, buy food in bulk at a grocery store and have yourself a picnic in one of the many beautiful parks! Some restaurants that offer great food at great prices include Oriental Star on Finchley Road, Wok to Walk in Leicaster Square, Braseiro on High Road, Chipotle on Charing Cross Road and Pimlico Fresh on Wilton Road.
